Kaman Singh Ramudamu, vice president of the ruling Gorkha Janamukti Morcha party in Darjeeling died last week. His funeral, which was held at the base of the market, drew a huge crowd. People followed the procession through the streets toward the cemetery. I stayed with the crowd until the rain really started to come down.
